Introduction

The Timeline view offers a visual representation of your projects' duration, key milestones, and current status. It helps you quickly understand the progress and scheduling of each project in a calendar-based layout.

Using the Timeline tab, you can access the Timeline view from the Project Navigator.

Timeline Rows

Each project is displayed with two distinct rows in the timeline:

  • A bar that represents the time range based on the project's Start Date and End Date.

  • A milestone row below the bar, which starts empty and allows you to create individual milestones over time.

The timeline bars are based exclusively on the predefined Start date and End date fields. Custom date fields are not supported and cannot be configured for display.

Project Duration Bars

Each project in the timeline has a first row that visually represents its start and end dates using a horizontal bar. In this section, you’ll learn how these bars work, how they are colored, and how they behave when editing or navigating the timeline.

If your project has only one date filled, you will see a gradient on the missing date.

Project status visualization

The bar color will depend on the Status field, by default (if you don't have modified it) these will be the available colors:

OFF TRACK , AT RISK, on track , PENDING , PAUSED and DONE

Project Milestones

Each project in the timeline also includes a second row dedicated to milestones, which are represented as diamond-shaped icons. Milestones are associated with a specific date and help highlight key events in the project.

If your project has no milestones yet, this row will appear empty.

Milestone appearance and behavior

Each milestone will appear as a diamond-shaped marker on the timeline. The color of each milestone reflects the progress of its linked issues, based on the following rules:

  • Status TO DO: when all linked issues are in To Do

  • Status IN PROGRESS: when at least one linked issue is In Progress or there’s a mix of To Do and Done

  • Status DONE: when all linked issues are Done

When multiple milestones fall within the same visible time slot (depending on the current timeline view: day, week, month, quarter), they will be grouped into a cluster. Clusters do not display a status color.
