Data residency

If your organisation needs to store its data in a specific location (such as the EU or USA), Atlassian allows you to move both product data (Jira, Confluence) and Marketplace app data (like Projectrak) to supported regions.

By default, all products are hosted in the Global location, which includes all of the Atlassian AWS regions. If your product supports data residency and you need its data to be stored in a specific region, you can request to move that data to the desired location.

When you move a product to a new data residency location, some of its compatible apps will move automatically at the same time. However, not all apps support this combined move—some will need to be moved separately after the product migration is complete.

How to migrate to another region

Moving product data

To move your Jira or Confluence data to another region:

1. Go to admin.atlassian.com and select your organisation.

   Open

   

2. In the left menu, go to Security > Data residency.

   Open

   

3. Set location for the product.

   Open

   

4. Select a location for this product.

   Open

   

5. Select a time to schedule your data residency move.

   Open

   

6. Review apps that will be moved to the selected location.

   Open

   

7. Review your data residency move details and submit the request.

   Open

   

Moving Projectrak app data

Some Marketplace apps support data residency and can be moved separately from product data.

To move Projectrak app data:

1. Inside your organisation administration, go to Security > Data residency.

   Open

   

2. Now you can move eligible apps.

   Open

   

3. Review apps that can be moved to the product’s location.

   Open

   

4. Select a time to schedule your data residency move.

   Open

   

5. Review your app data residency move details and submit the request.

   Open
